From the early depictions of a battle royale, even in Hollywood with the likes of The Hunger Games, the goal of these dystopian slaughterhouses is to kill for sport and be the last pair of boots to be standing.

In its many forms throughout gaming, the BR genre has been adapted to suit a more viewer-friendly experience by forcing players to get kills to be successful in a competitive setting, meaning the cosy tent-loving campers have to move from their dark caves to have a chance of winning.

However, the World Series of Warzone has revealed that the genre will be stripped back to its bare bones for a one-off winner takes all sweatfest for a whopping $100,000 prize.

The best players in the world will be dropping into Verdansk on their lonesome to compete in the "Solo YOLO" event. With the six-figure sum up for grabs, the lone victor will take home all of the spoils, and nothing will be dished out for second-place consolation prizes.

The one-off map will take place in the World Series of Warzone, replacing the sixth and final tie of the usual set. The usual format will be squeezed into five rounds rather than six, with the latter being a free-for-all with the largest stakes imaginable.

With news circulating, many of the pros had a mixed reaction.

Khaki "FaZe Testy" admitted that if he wins the event that he will give away half of his earnings to fans on Twitter, whilst Ethan "Fifakill" Pink will split 10% of his prize with second place. He added, "Can't even imagine the heartbreak" for the second-placed player.

However, Team Delirium's "ScummN" will give second place absolutely nothing except another clip of bullets into his body in-game. The previous WSOW winner claimed, "2nd wouldn’t get s**t but their body shot from me".

Warzone esports has been rapidly growing since the formation of the WSOW which saw the end of Kill Races in favour of custom lobbies featuring the top players doing head to head.

The WSOW Solo YOLO drop will kick off on September 15, live on Twitch Rivals.
