Vampire: The Masquerade - Swansong Is The Latest Big Game To Be Delayed
The last couple of years has seen a lot of games get pushed back - but it's increasingly tough to be angry about it. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic made it harder than ever to develop games at its peak, forcing game developers to adapt to new surroundings and work environments.
Gaming has taken a massive hit over the course of the pandemic (unless you're Animal Crossing: New Horizons, in which case, congrats on the ridiculous lockdown sales), meaning lots of release dates have suffered casualties.
From the pushback on blockbusters like Battlefield 2042 and indies such as Solar Ash, the community and business have suffered. And now, a new pushback has come for another game.
Why Has Vampire: The Masquerade - Swansong Been Pushed? Back
Sadly, the latest in the mythos of the World of Darkness has been forced to move its release date back to May 2022. The announcement was made on the Vampire: The Masquerade - Swansong official Twitter page, revealing that the game would not be ready in time for the February 2022 release date.
"Our focus is on crafting a world that draws you in, that requires you to make difficult decisions and live with the consequences," reads the official announcement.
"Swansong features lots of characters, choices, dialogues, and opportunities to decide how the story plays and our ultimate focus is n quality. With this in mind, we've made the difficult decision to delay the launch of Vampire: The Masquerade - Swansong from February 2022 to May 2022."
But, at the very least, this thankfully isn't the only Vampire: The Masquerade content to look forward to.
Another Vampire: The Masquerade Game Is On The Way
Though we might have to wait a little longer for Swansong, thankfully this delay will narrow the gap between it and the next game in the series.
Another RPG set in the World of Darkness will be coming afterwards, as Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 is set to escape development hell in time to follow Swansong.
Swansong's delay might be a bit of a bummer for long-time fans of the franchise, but at least the devs are taking the time to get the game right. Here's hoping the game will be much better off for it
