Uncharted 4 Remaster Is Axing Fan-Favourite Multiplayer
While we can't wait to see Nathan Drake again, the latest reports about the Uncharted 4 remaster suggest a fan-favourite feature could be axed from the new-gen reimagining of A Thief's End.
It's only been seven years since Naughty Dog rounded off Mr. Drake's story, and while Uncharted 4 went on to become the best-selling entry in the franchise as well as one of the PS4's best-selling games, we've been rightly hoping for a modern reimagining. Sadly, it turns out the latest iteration of the ambitious adventure game could be doing away with multiplayer.
Is The Uncharted 4 Remaster Axing Multiplayer?
The thought of the Uncharted 4 remaster axing multiplayer might sound ridiculous, but all signs point to this being the case. A listing on the Entertainment Software Rating Board claims the upcoming PS5 and PC release of the Uncharted games won't be including multiplayer with Uncharted 4.
The Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection is a big deal as it brings together the Nathan Drake saga, but apparently, each game will only include their main campaign. The ESRB listing says "interactive elements" won't be part of the bundle. This would include PvP modes like multiplayer. In contrast, listings for both Uncharted 4 and The Lost Legacy reference online interactions.
Uncharted 4 launched with a main story and multiplayer, before adding a co-op survival mode. All of the above were available with The Lost Legacy expansion that took Chloe Frazer's story forward in 2017. Considering The Lost Legacy is included in Legacy of Thieves Collection, many had rightly assumed multiplayer would be part of the package.
What Else Do We Know About The Uncharted: Legacy Of Thieves Collection?
There is a small mercy that can be gleamed from the ESRB rating. Now that the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves collection has officially been rated for PS5 and PC, it gives hopes to an imminent release. We already knew it was coming out in 2022, but now it's in its final stages, the release could be sooner rather than later.
Remembering that Sony's Uncharted movie with Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg is coming out in February, it's not too speculative to guess the release dates could coincide with each other. Most of us are obviously coming to Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection for a remastered campaign, but still, it's sad that we won't be able to duke it out against each other with a revamped multiplayer too. Oh well, here's hoping it does better than the GTA Trilogy.
