The free-to-play Division title in currently in development has just been pushed back to a later date, along with other Ubisoft titles like Rocksmith+ and the remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.

How Do We Know The Division Heartlands Was Delayed?

Ubisoft confirmed the delay of the new Division game, along with some other upcoming titles, during an earnings report for the company. During the announcement, the Ubisoft management claimed there is no reason to be concerned regarding the delay, and that the game is on track and plans are underway for the next testing phase.

They also made a statement on their plans going forward for free-to-play titles, admitting they will struggle at first, but plan to learn from it. "Success may first imply failures, to grow and learn as the group constantly builds new skills, technologies, and capabilities. While there is more work ahead, Ubisoft is confident these organic investments will ultimately pay off and significantly enhance the scale and value of its biggest franchises," Ubisoft elaborated.

They are at least aware of the response to their free-to-play titles so far, after the colossal failure of Hyper Scape and the lukewarm response to Ghost Recon: Frontline. The announcement of the latter title didn’t receive the most positive responses, but the Ubisoft are sticking with it and expect it to be a future hit.

What Is The Division Heartland?

Developed by Red Storm, The Division Heartland is the third entry in the franchise. Ubisoft have said playing the previous games will not be mandatory for understanding the game, and it will be a standalone title mostly. It’s also reportedly going to bring a new perspective to the franchise, and it will make use of a new, more rural setting. A wild departure from the urban jungles of New York and Washington, D.C. in the last two titles.

Ubisoft also have big plans for the universe of The Division, with new content coming to the second game after Heartlands release, along with a mobile game, novel, and even a Netflix feature film.

There is no exact release date for the upcoming title yet, but it’s supposed to come out in April at the soonest. The title is set to come to the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and select PC storefronts.
