Two New Call Of Duty: Vanguard Characters Introduced To Multiplayer
Call of Duty: Vanguard looks poised to introduce some new iconic characters to the franchise’s wider mythos. There’s one hell of a rogue’s gallery to join, too - Soap, Woods, Captain Price, Ghost, Mason - Call of Duty is rife with characters for players to latch to during campaigns, and Vanguard wants to be the next game in that lineage.
Vanguard's success is yet to be seen, but it’s setting up some characters that players are likely to love (especially with Polina Petrova already being dubbed 'Baelina' by fans). And now, we’ve got a peek at two new Call of Duty: Vanguard characters that fans may well love.
Who Are The Two New Call Of Duty: Vanguard Characters?
Sony has revealed a couple of new Call of Duty: Vanguard characters joining the fight in a lengthy blog post. The post contains four short story trailers, offering fans more of an insight into the lives and struggles of the campaign’s protagonists. We get a deeper look at Arthur Kingsley and Polina Petrova, both characters we’ve met before, but also two new soldiers - Daniel Take Yatsu and Padmavati Balan.
Daniel is a talented sniper whose story is rooted in tragedy, and addresses the internment of Japanese citizens in WWII’s US concentration camps. His story is one of sheer persistence, as he fights for his fellow soldiers in the hope of what America could yet become.
Padmavati is a woman who lost her homeland twice over, once to colonialists and once to fascists. She fights for justice and vengeance, dreaming of an India defined by the defiance of its people. Her character is "defined by this duality between fighter and peaceful civilian: Padmavati is a fierce soldier adept at jungle warfare, but also a battle-weary nurse who loves to perform poetry and music."
These new additions are set to be big names in the Call of Duty world going forward - that’s if Vanguard can pull off their characterisations.
What Other Playable Call Of Duty: Vanguard Characters Are There?
In the blog post, we also get new trailers for two Call of Duty: Vanguard characters we’ve met already. We’re offered a new look into Arthur Kingsley’s leadership and selflessness, while Polina Petrova’s ruthlessness and sensitivity are also put in the spotlight.
All these characters hope to make Vanguard a particularly special game and WWII shooter - subbing out generic soldiers for characters with real and pointed depth. Who knows - these characters could come together to make the campaign of Vanguard something truly memorable in the history books of CoD. We’ll just have to wait until November 5 to find out.
