Thomas the Tank Engine in Cyberpunk 2077 can't hurt you, Thomas the Tank Engine in Cyberpunk 2077 isn't real. While we're no stranger to out-there mods in Cyberpunk 2077 (remember the X-rated Keanu Reeves sex mod?), we think we might've found the craziest yet. CD Projekt Red has populated Night City and its six distinct districts with a whole host of vehicles in this sci-fi version of GTA, and while the plans for a monorail were apparently cut, someone's added Thomas the Tank Engine to the game - with horrifying results.

Modding in Cyberpunk 2077 is a trend on the rise. CD Projekt Red is accustomed to modding, with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt being particularly well known in the creative community. So far, we've seen useful mods like better vehicle handling and a much-requested third-person view, however, not all are made to make Cyberpunk 2077 run more smoothly

What is the Thomas the Tank Engine Cyberpunk 2077 mod?

Thomas the Tank Engine mods are nothing new to video games. Resident Evil 2 famously swapped Mr X with blue locomotive, while Kevin Brooks' Skyrim mod to replaced dragons with Thomas and got him in trouble with Mattel. Modder camtino has shown off their "Thomas DeShawn" creation on Nexus Mods. As the name suggests, the mod swaps Dexter DeShawn's head with Thomas the Tank Engine. DeShawn keeps his dialogue, but seeing his face swapped out for Thomas is a truly terrifying experience.

According to camtino, there are a few bugs that need ironing out, but still, it's a fun mod to download if you've got nothing better to do. Unfortunately, that's about it with the Thomas the Tank Engine mod. We don't see the many vehicles replaced with tiny and giant Thomas the Tank Engines chugging around Night City, but it opens the door to that possibility

Should you download the Thomas the Tank Engine Cyberpunk mod?

Although DeShawn isn't the biggest player in Cyberpunk 2077, he's an integral part of driiving the story forward as you strike a deal with him to raid Konpeki Plaza and steal the Relic chip. Downloading the mod is relatively easy as you install it into an \archive\pc\patch folder in the back end of Cyberpunk 2077. Before you start playing that iconic theme tune and chug your way around Cyberpunk 2077, should you be downloading the Thomas the Tank Engine mod? Only recently, CD Projekt Red warned against downloading mods.

There has been a hotfix to improve modding security within Cyberpunk 2077, however, it came just before there was a massive security leak that now sees the company being held ransom. It sounds like a storyline pulled from the game itself. The modding community is sure to carry on growing - especially with the next-gen PS5 and Xbox Series X/S release coming. Here's hoping someone gets to work adding the monorail system back in and then painting Thomas' cheery face on the front of it.
