Assassin's Creed Dataminers Discover Third Valhalla DLC

Get ready for a whole new realm, as Assassin's Creed Valhalla dataminers think they've found confirmation of a third DLC. Launching alongside the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in 2020, Valhalla was the latest in the long line of Assassin's Creed games and took the story to Norse mythology. Picking up a bloody axe and berserking into battle as the Viking Eivor, Valhalla continued the mechanics of Assassin's Creed Odyssey where you get to play as a man or a woman.

Unlike the usual story of Ubisoft releasing Assassin's Creed games and then ditching them in favour of the next one, Valhalla has a packed roadmap of DLCs and post-release content in 2021. With this in mind, there are already reports there won't be a new AC game until a next-gen release in 2022. Aside from the "Wrath of the Druids" and "Siege of Paris" DLCs, dataminers have unearthed a potential third DLC that would be something completely different.

What is the third Assassin's Creed Valhalla DLC?

Posting on Twitter, French dataminer @xj0nathan showed off some Valhalla code with an interesting update. Although the tweet is in French, there's a clear mention of Muspelheim. Those up on their Norse mythology will know Muspelheim is one of the nine realms and is famously home to the demonic Surtur. This land of fire and brimstone is featured a lot in Norse mythology and also popped up in 2017's Thor: Ragnarok

With both "Wrath of the Druids" and "Siege of Paris" looking like pretty grounded affairs, it would be a massive change of pace for a third Valhalla DLC to take us somewhere like Muspelheim. If it's the case though, it could open the doors to a whole host of Valhalla DLCs that might tour the nine realms and make sure the post-release content keeps on flowing. Remember that Eivor got to visit Jotunheim and clash with frost giants after reaching a certain point in Valhalla? Going against the idea of the third DLC, @xj0nathan admitted the reference to Muspelheim could be cut content that didn't make it into the full game.

Will there be a third Assassin's Creed Valhalla DLC?

Also countering a third DLC, there's been no mention of it from Ubisoft. The 2021 roadmap only included two DLCs, but that doesn't mean a third (or more) could be on the horizon for 2022 and a second Season Pass. Importantly, the tease of more DLCs further puts the issue of no new Assassin's Creed this year to bed. Alongside a potential trip to Muspelheim, there was a cryptic tease of a DLC called "Meteor" earlier this month. YouTuber JorRaptor pointed to the name "Meteor" attached to the sequence "DLC_EXP3;". Interestingly, "The Siege of Paris" and "Wrath of the Druids" settings were listed alongside "DLC_ EXP2" and DLC_EXP1,".

Insiders claim there could be a massive Valhalla expansion next year - on a par with Far Cry New Dawn. We've seen Insomniac rollout Spider-Man: Miles Morales as an expanded DLC to tide us over until Spider-Man 2, so Ubisoft could follow suit with a massive standalone that lets us explore the expanded world of Norse mythology. If you're expecting a big Assassin's Creed Valhalla announcement, we wouldn't hold our breath. Ubisoft is only just dropping the delayed "Wrath of the Druids", so we imagine all efforts will go into promoting the first DLC before announcing a third.
