There Are More Changes Coming To Jett Says VALORANT Game Designer
If VALORANT has an Agent that is the face of the game it's most definitely Jett. The Agent has been one of the most controversial picks in the last couple of months, becoming a must pick in tournaments due to incredibly strong interactions between her kit and the Operator but also Assault Rifles. In patch 1.08, Riot Games had applied several changes to Jett's ultimate, increasing the time between consecutive Burst Fire uses from 0.33 sec to 0.45, introducing damage falloff and the ultimate's Head Shot damage multiplier from three to two times the damage. In the patch notes, the development team had explained the rationale behind the changes.
It said: "While we continue to investigate some of her outsized strengths, we think the burst fire on her Blade Storm has been over-performing at long ranges. The burst fire is intended to be a close-range attack, but we found it frequently getting frags at over 20 meters away. These changes aim to rein in its effective range while retaining its close range potency."
Game Designer "rycou" showed himself pleased with the reception of those changes and stated that they weren't done with changes to Jett.
That additional changes might be needed to her is echoed by some professional players around the season. G2 Esports' Oscar "mixwell" Cañellas Colocho shared that he thinks Jett is not going away any time soon despite the changes to her ultimate and the nerf to the Operator.
Especially her signature ability Tailwind has been located as a source of a lot of power in her kit, allowing Jett to take safe picks denying her enemies the ability to trade kills due to her being able to dash out of angles too quickly.
