The Witcher Season 3 Release Date Confirmed For 2023
Update: The Witcher Season 3 aired on June 29, 2023, with the second half debuting on July 27.
The Witcher has moved on from its reputation as one of the best fantasy games of the 21st century to become one of the best Netflix series of the 21st century. So it's got a pretty good track record. Geralt of Rivia's arrival on small screens everywhere took the world by storm and introduced fans to the pre-established world of The Witcher in a dramatic fashion.
And now, as fans await the return of the Witcher himself, we're left wondering what's next for Geralt, as well as wondering the obvious question - when exactly is he making his return? Here's everything we know about The Witcher season 3 release date.
The Witcher Season 3 Release Date
It has just been announced at Netflix's TUDUM event that 2023 is the year of the Witcher. At the event - and in a subsequent Twitter post - The Witcher Season 3 release date was confirmed to be coming on June 29th, 2023.
It might be vague, but at least we've got a window of when Henry Cavill will be flexing his muscles once more as Geralt. Now, at least we can gear up for a hot Witcher summer until we get a concrete The Witcher Season 3 release date.
The Witcher: Blood Origin Release Date
We're not totally Witcher-less until the launch of season three, though - we have a spin-off to look forward to before it comes to air, in the form of The Witcher: Blood Origin coming on December 25 2022. So, we won't have a Witcher-shaped void in our lives in 2022.
The show stars Michelle Yeoh, Sophia Brown, Jacob Collins-Levy and Jodie Turner-Smith, and it details the creation of the first Witcher set 120 years before the events of the main series.
Has The Witcher Been Renewed For Season 4?
We finally have confirmation that a fourth season of The Witcher is on the way. This comes following a report from Redanian Intelligence has claimed that not only is season four in the works, but a fifth is coming too. According to the site's sources, the two series will be developed back to back, much like the process behind Vikings: Valhalla.
In a shocking development, The Witcher Season 3 will be the last one starring Cavill. The OG Geralt has confirmed he's stepping away from the series to be replaced by Liam Hemsworth. Given the success of the first two seasons, The Witcher Season 4 is a no-brainer for the streaming giant, and with Hemsworth now on board, we know it's official.
We'll have to wait and see whether we get Season 4 and 5 for a double renewal - but we're keen to see the two series potentially launch at once. Or even launch at all. Get ready for The Witcher to cast a spell over us all and bring the Continent (monsters and all) to life.
