The emperor reaches for the crown. Charlie "nero" Zwarg has joined the back-to-back Overwatch League champions, the San Francisco Shock.

Starting out in Overwatch League for the Guangzhou Charge, nero developed into a promising talent over the seasons. In season 3, he showed great performances, especially on Mei. Unfortunately, the global pandemic hit the US American player hard as the season, which was supposed to be spent travelling the globe, stressed the situation with his work visa in China and South Korea, requiring him to go back to the US to renew his visa and go through mandatory quarantine twice. Due to the quarantine being government-mandated, the player and his organisation found themselves handicapped in providing nero with the necessary practice environment to stay on top of his game and he lost his starting spot to Ou "Eileen" Yiliang.

The Shock and their head coach Dae-hee "Crusty" Park are known to be able to bring talent to the next level of their career, developing American players like Matthew "super" DeLisi, Jay "sinatraa" Won, and Grant "moth" Espe into world-beaters. The hope is that they will be able to replicate it in nero's case, providing another MVP candidate figure for the North American scene. The hero pool he brings to the table certainly helps the Shock in their current position, as they appear to be able to get full utility out of his flexibility.
