The Punisher Season 3: will it happen?

It's been some time since we've seen Frank Castle on our screens, and it's starting to get distressing. Starting out as a side character in the critically acclaimed Daredevil series, The Punisher went on to headline two seasons of his own show.

He's been tearing through wrong'uns in a pretty gnarly fashion (we all remember the mirror scene, we don't need to sugarcoat it).

The Punisher was a real treat, but after its merger into the MCU, the future of Netflix's Marvel properties was plunged into uncertainty. Daredevil will be making his return in his own series on Disney+ - but will the brutal and unforgiving Punisher be offered the same treatment?

Here's everything we know about the potential future of Frank Castle and The Punisher Season 3 predicted release date.

Of course, as we have no word on The Punisher Season 3, it's nigh-on impossible to predict when we could see it - but if we did, we'd definitely be seeing it after the release of the new series Daredevil: Born Again. Charlie Cox's full-time return as Matt Murdock is set to launch in the Spring of 2024.

Plus, it's hard to say if this theoretical The Punisher Season 3 could actually be a continuation of the events of The Punisher seasons one and two. Remember, this new Daredevil series seems to mix elements from its prior series and its potential place in the MCU.

Everything is up in the air right now, and with very little confirmation, we can't say for sure if The Punisher Season 3 will look the same way as we remember it.

There's no telling who could appear in The Punisher season 3, but we'd obviously hope to see Jon Bernthal return as Frank Castle. He's perfectly cast, and fans adore his version of The Punisher - but things could change.

There's every chance that Marvel could take the opportunity of a reboot to recast and reimagine the character for the new era of Castle in the MCU.

There is a lot of speculation as to what will come of The Punisher now that it's in Disney's hands, but we're just going to have to hold out to find out what's next for him.

Will Punisher Season 3 be on Disney Plus?

We don't know much about a potential The Punisher Season 3 or a predicted release date, but we know if it is truly on its way, it's going to be airing on Disney Plus.

Much like Every Marvel property (except Spider-Man, who suffers joint custody with Sony), The Punisher Season 3 is bound to hit the streaming service as an exclusive if it does truly make a comeback.

There will be questions about how the gritty live-action series would fit with Disney's usually family-friendly approach because let's be honest, he's one of Marvel's bloodiest characters.

Still, we've already seen the Alien movies sit under the streaming service's more mature Star banner, so anything is possible. Added to this, Deadpool is soon coming to the MCU, while Kevin Feige has promised he'll keep his brutal R-rating.

Still, The Punisher Season 3 would join the existing series on Disney+ as a (hopeful) continuation. Even if we don't get The Punisher Season 3, at least we have the first two seasons to rewatch.
