The New Trailer For The Witcher Season 2 Has Dropped
The trailer for the season two of Netflix's The Witcher series has just premiered via Netflix's official Twitter.
What Happens In The Trailer?
It shows us what all our favourite characters are up to. Ciri appears to be training to be a Witcher, and Yennifer is recovering after her battle during last season. Geralt gets plenty of scenes fighting monsters, such as a tentacle creature during the end of the trailer.
We knew this was coming, as rin a recent interview showrunner Lauren Hissrich explained thatthe second season will be showing Geralt face off against more monsters than ever before.
In an interview with Sci-Fi and Fantasy magazine (via Redanian Intelligence), Hissrich went into great detail about what The Witcher fans can expect to see in the upcoming series, that is largely based on Andrzej Sapkowski's novel Blood of Elves.
She said: "Blood of Elves lacks monsters. There’s just not very many. But we know from the games that people really like to see Geralt battling monsters, so we continued adding more monsters to Season 2."
In another interview, she explained that the team behind the show has not yet reached an official agreement in regards to a potential third season, despite the fact that Henry Cavill (Geralt) is reportedly locked in for a five more seasons as the character.
Speaking at the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour, (via IGN) she said: "There has been no formal renewal", said Hissrich. "In fact, right now, my focus is on Season 2. I mean, we have this airdate now, we're going to launch on December 17,
"There is still a lot of work to be done in post-production. So I'm back and forth between Los Angeles and London completing that, and that is just where all of our focus is right now, because we need a great Season 2 if we have a hope of having a Season 3." It's true that most shows find their stride in Season 2 (just look at LOST), but it's clear there's a lot riding on the next run of eight episodes.
When Will Season 2 Release?
According to the new trailer it is set to release soon on December 17. This comes two years after the first season was released, near the end of 2019.
