Elden Ring is already shaping up to be one of 2022's biggest titles, and one of the crowning achievements of the new-gen era a mere couple of years in.

The game is already a massive deal, earning the Most Anticipated Game award at The Game Awards two years running, and with the lethal combination of FromSoftware and George R. R. Martin helming the project, it's clear to see why. Elden Ring is big. And it's about to get bigger.

But fans exciting for the game, be warned - spoilers are already out there.

Elden Ring Spoilers Are Already Here

Be warned, everyone - the spoilers are loose.

Elden Ring details are currently swirling around online that don't just tackle the game's narrative and ruin the game's story, but also spoil information about mechanics and the inner workings of the game.

A Reddit post in the Elden Ring subreddit was the first to flag the spoilers, stating that "extreme spoilers" are currently floating in the eternal void that is the internet thanks to some particularly sweaty dataminers. The misinformation is much easier to spread, too, as it can easily be tacked as fake due to no real verification. So, if you see someone talking about an "obviously fake" spoiler, the very opposite could be true.

It's a stressful time to be a perpetually online Elden Ring fan, then, as the game's launch in February still feels like aeons away, and now fans are going to have to be hyper-vigilant when it comes to seeing these experience-wrecking details.

But, the subreddit is doing what it can to push back.

The Elden Ring Subreddit Has Banned Datamines

The subreddit has now added a "No Datamined Content" rule to its ruleset to make sure that users there don't have the game spoiled for them.

"In light of recent happenings in the datamining scene, we will be amending Rule 5 of the subreddit to disallow the posting of datamined content, its associated spoilers, and speculation thereof", reads the announcement post. "Datamined content is obtained in breach of TOS and often harmful to the developers as it ruins their plans for reveals or focuses on outdated or placeholder content."

This is good news for fans of the game, as it means the subreddit can remain a spoiler-free safe haven of sorts.

It's a bummer that spoilers are out in the wild, but it's a reality we're going to have to contend with. Put on your Twitter muted words - we're taking heavy precautions from here on out.
