It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt. Many of us have probably imagined what it would be like to recreate the Grand Theft Auto series in real life. Trust us, getting away from the police after slapping grannies and strolling around the streets with a Glock 17 poking out your pants isn't as easy as putting the pedal to the metal.

Still, an unknown robber/robbers in the United Kingdom have imagined their own version of Grand Theft Auto: London 1961. There are no fancy motors here, instead, they've gone on a driving rampage with the use of a supermarket van. One from Morrisons - to be exact.

As reported by the Lancashire Telegraph, a stolen Morrison van has been causing havoc in Blackburn on September 3. According to the site, the presumably unguarded Morrisons van was stolen from a store in Blackburn town centre at around 7.40am. Passers-by then report the rogue vehicle racing across playing fields and footpaths in the early hours of the morning.

At 9am, CCTV picked up the van narrowly missing an oncoming vehicle. The incident caught the attention of locals, with a post on Shad Chefs' Facebook page reading, "If anybody's wondering why there's a big police presence in Shadsworth this morning, someone's gone all Grand Theft Auto and nicked a Morrisons delivery van". Although the van was later recovered, no arrests have been made at the time of writing.

Responding to the incident, Sgt Steve Dundon, from Blackburn neighbourhood policing team added, "The van was stolen from outside the Blackburn store at about 7.40am. It was later sighted in the Shadsworth area where it made off from police.

"It has been located near Highercroft Road and recovered at 10am. Members of the public reported it to us being driven on footpaths and playing fields used by dog walkers and we are thankful that no one was hurt. Nobody has been arrested and enquiries are ongoing."

Is this the first time GTA has been recreated in real life?

Although the incident is rare, it's not the first time someone has turned Rockstar's record-breaking franchise into a real-life. Earlier this year, GTA V stars Shawn Fonteno and Gerald "Slink" Jonhson made the most of their lockdown and recreated their iconic haircut exchange from the 2013 game. Here, Lamar has an NSFW exchange with Frankling about his haircut.

In other news, trying to recreate video games can get you in trouble. Also this year, a judge slapped a legal notice on a company called Street Kart, which used to be called MariCar (you can see where this is going). This unauthorised Mario Kart rip-off was ordered to stop racing around the streets of Japan in costumes. Nintendo is just as protective over its IPs as Take-Two Interactive is with GTA, so it was only a matter of time before a real-life Mario Kart was going to get the boot.

The internet is full of people doing their own versions of GTA in real life, but seeing a Morrisons van tear through Blackburn while you're taking your kiddies on the school run must be an odd one. For all we know, this could be some sort of viral stunt from Rockstar to tease the long-awaited GTA 6. We know you're going for realistic graphics, but come on, guys!
