As the light at the end of the Overwatch tunnel is edging ever closer, Activision Blizzard decided to drop a huge bomb when adding their 32nd and final hero to the pool. Back in April 2020, the developers spiced up the meta with a hard-hitting agent of the skies, Echo.

However, long-standing San Francisco Shock star and two-time Overwatch world champion, Matthew "super" DeLisi has claimed that Echo "is the worst thing to happen to Overwatch".

Super claims Echo is f***** Up

Whilst watching a re-run of his sides fixture versus the Dallas Fuel, the Shock was hit with five consecutive D.Va bombs in a single fight, thanks to Echo's Duplicate ultimate.

Super's problem with Echo stems from his ability to chain abilities, especially D.Va's Self-Destruct ult which has the highest damage potential on the game.

Bursting into a rage at the clip, Super said: "This is going to be a hot take. This s**t is the worst thing to happen to Overwatch. This sh*t is f****d up!” he exclaimed. “It is not fun. It is not skill. It is f*****g bulls**t.”

Why does Super hate Echo?

The combination of Echo's ultimate and D.Va's Self Destruct creates an environment of utter chaos and is often a tactic adopted at high-ranks and competitive play. Super felt that this deadly duo makes the game "unfun", especially with the luck involved.

He added: “It’s like you’re playing to get lucky! I’m going to have to call in my friend Dream over here!”

The latter reference was aimed towards Minecraft speedrunner Dream, who finally admitted he was guilty of cheating in some speed runs by using RNG enhancing mods.

Whether or not any changes will occur to Echo is yet to be seen, with much of the devs' focus being tailored towards the development of Overwatch 2 - where Super's role of Tank is set to change drastically.
