Streamer Just Broke The Twitch Viewership Record - And He's Still Live Now
A streamer has smashed Twitch's viewership record, and he's still going.
Spanish streamer David “TheGrefg” Martínez has just become the first streamer to surpass over one million live concurrent viewers during his Fortnite skin reveal, which has reached over 2.4m - and still counting.
This monumental moment even attracted attention from Epic's VP & Co-Founder, Mark Rein, who was live-tweeting whilst the streamer's viewership kept climbing.
The highest live concurrent twitch viewership record to date was from the League of Legends Worlds in November 2019, with 1.7m concurrent viewers at one stage, as per Twitch's usage statistics. However the previous record for a single streamer was Tyler “Ninja” Blevins during December’s big Fortnite event where he achieved 660,000 live viewers.
The record breaking streamer attracted attention from some of the largest names in the esports ecosystem, such as Ninja himself and the 2019 Fortnite singles champions Kyle "Bugha" Giersdorf.
So what's the stream about? Predictably, it's also about Fortnite. The whole hype was leading up to his Icon series Fortnite skin, which is 'Epic' in itself!
