Squid Game Season 2: Early Cast & Everything We Know

It feels like a lifetime ago by now, but it was in 2021 that we were all obsessed with Squid Game. The Korean drama took over the world in an unprecedented but well-deserved sweep - dominating Netflix charts and hoisting pop culture onto its shoulder for a few months of chaos.
Netflix was quick to jump back on the hype and order Squid Game Season 2 - but it's up to director, writer, and Executive Producer Hwang Dong-hyuk to decide how Squid Game will continue its story. But, the most important question is beginning to be asked - when exactly will it come out? Here's everything we know about the Squid Game Season 2 predicted release date.
Is There A Squid Game Season 2 Release Date?

As of right now, we haven't been blessed with any kind of Squid Game Season 2 release date. Thankfully, Hwang Dong-hyuk has some sort of idea as to when we could see the return of Squid Game.
In a discussion with Vanity Fair, Hwang mentioned that he anticipated the show to return to Netflix at the end of 2023. Speaking at a Netflix press conference in Seoul (via Variety), the series overseer confirmed, "We will start shooting Season 2 next year and it'll be released the following year." So, it sounds like 2024 is locked in.
There is a chance the Squid Game Season 2 predicted release date could be shifted to some later point. Who knows if this expectation has changed, but right now, this is the best estimation that we have of when Squid Game could be back on our screens.
Squid Game Season 2 Cast

Even though we haven't got a full Squid Game Season 2 cast list just yet, we know for certain that some core characters will be making their return.
In a message to fans from Dong-hyuk, the director revealed that Gi-hun will be returning, presumably played once again by the now-iconic Lee Jung-Jae, as well as The Front Man, played by Lee Byung-hun.
The message also implies the return of the man in the suit, as well as a new character. Cheol-su is apparently Young-hee's boyfriend.
Will There Be A Squid Game Season 3?

There isn't any news about the potential Squid Game Season 3 just yet, especially as the second season is still potentially two years away.
Speculating for a moment, if Squid Game Season 2 has even half of the attention given to it as the first season, then Netflix would be bonkers not to renew the show for a second time if Hwang Dong-hyuk has any intention of carrying the show on. Speaking about Squid Game Season 3 (via Deadline), Hwang Dong-hyuk said he'd like to cast some Hollywood megastars - even giving the nod to Leonardo DiCaprio.
He continued that while celebrity castings aren't on the card for Season 2, the fact Squid Game has so many famous fans he'd like them for Season 3. The monumental success of Squid Game's debut was too good for Netflix not to make the most of it, so don't worry - we're confident we'll be getting more Squid Game in the future.
