Sova Drone Glitches Are Ruining VALORANT Matches
It seems VALORANT can't catch a break as yet another game-breaking glitch is causing havoc for Riot Games' first-person shooter. Barely a week goes by where someone hasn't discovered a new way to glitch under a map or get a leg-up over the competition.
Whether it's Omen teleporting through spawn barriers or Killjoy's turret popping up underneath Icebox, the problems are coming thick and fast. Now, there are reports of a Sova drone glitch where the Russian archer's owl drone is finding a way under the map. VALORANT has been plagued with problems since it launched earlier this year, but thankfully, the devs are usually pretty on it in terms of getting them patched.
What is the Sova drone glitch?
Glitches are generally limited to one particular area of a single map, meaning players flock there in their droves to make the most of the exploit. However, when it comes to Sova drone issue, it sounds like his drone can go out of bounds on nearly every map. Posting in a (now-deleted) Reddit thread, u/Vehementtoast shared eight, YES EIGHT, different locations where Sova's drone could escape the usual confines of the VALORANT playing field.
In the post, the player highlighted A Site and Mid on Haven, alongside six other spots spanning Blind and Ascent. Given that A Site and Mid are popular for both attacking and defending, it was a particularly big issue on Haven. When working normally, Sova's drone should be able to travel a short distance and expose enemy positions without putting yourselves in the firing line. Being able to glitch under the map and go out of bounds amplifies this and is a game-breaking problem for many.
Will Riot fix the glitch?
Don't expect the Sova drone glitch to be around for long though. After the Reddit clip started doing the rounds, one VALORANT dev promised, "We'll look at fixing these for the next patch coming up". Although there's no date on when it'll be fixed, we're expecting the severity will make it a top priority.
Even though eight locations were given the nod, there are chances that even more are scattered across the game. Maybe they haven't been found yet, or maybe sneaky players are keeping them a secret. Either way, expect it to be a huge overhaul of the way Sova works and more than just a minor fix. In the meantime, try and avoid using the exploit unless you fancy Sova's owl drone having it's wings "clipped".
