Soulja Boy Thinks He Now Owns Atari

Soulja Boy has been trying to crack (or crank, if you like) the gaming space for some time now. SouljaGame was his first attempt at breaking into the market, announcing that he had ‘made’ a brand new console, both in the form of a home console and a handheld.

As it turns out, these consoles were not brand new, nor were they made by Soulja Boy - they were Chinese bootleg consoles with his own branding slapped on in a bid to scam his audience.

He’s not had much luck in the gaming space - until now. Because he’s now the official owner of gaming legends Atari. Except, he isn’t. He isn’t at all.

Why does Soulja Boy Think He Owns Atari

In a live video on his Instagram page, Soulja Boy has announced that he is now the owner of Atari, despite… not being the owner of Atari. "They signed me to a deal, to Atari" he says. "Shoutout to Atari, to the whole staff. I’m about to revamp the company. We gonna take Atari to the next level. Everybody go follow @Atari. I am now the owner of Atari. I own the video game company Atari."

He cites the ‘success’ of the SouljaGame console as the reason that he was approached to take ownership of the company, suggesting that he’s about to sell the company for $140 million.

Atari has now responded, suggesting what we all had expected - Soulja Boy is not the owner of Atari. Strange, that.

Atari Respond To Soulja Boy’s Announcement

Atari

Atari has now responded to Soulja Boy’s Instagram live, and it’s a pretty straightforward confirmation that no, Soulja Boy does not own Atari. "We know that CEO of Atari is a dream job, but that honor belongs to Wade Rosen", they have said. How very succinct.

It seems like Soulja Boy is hellbent on breaking into the gaming industry, no matter how many gaming CEOs he needs to cannibalise to get there. Give us a call when he thinks he’s bought Nintendo.
