Sony Is Reportedly Closing PS3, PSP, And PS Vita PlayStation Stores
Sony is reportedly closing PS3, PSP, and PS Vita PlayStation Stores by the end of this summer.
For those of you who are still enjoying your PlayStation 3, this is pretty unfortunate news. PS3, along with PSP and PS Vita digital games and DLCs will no longer be available, if reports are to be believed.
TheGamer writes that sources close to the company have confirmed that the end is nigh, and the digital downloads for those specific platforms will be closed, as more and more people move on to upgrades. They claim that PSP and PS3 PlayStation Stores will close on July 2, with PS Vita following suit on August 27.
There has been no official comment from Sony itself, however we have seen this coming for a while, with the company making it so you couldn't buy PS3, PSP and PS Vita digital games via a mobile device last year.
F in the chat. We've had a good run.
For those of you who have managed to get your hands on a PlayStation 5, a Reddit user has found a genius hack to help with storage.
Posting on the official PS5 Reddit, u/DavidEdgrrr said that some PS5 consoles are missing out on valuable storage due to an annoying feature where games are being installed twice through the PlayStation app. In the post, they explained that it's relatively easy to accidentally install both the PS5 version of a game and the backward compatible PS4 version.
To ensure you don't have both, head into your console's storage and find the game(s) you want to check. There will be either a PS4 or PS5 symbol by the side, then simply remove the PS4 version.
According to Bloomberg, the PS5 will finally embrace internal storage options this summer. Supporting additional drives also comes with a firmware update that will unlock higher cooling fan speeds to make sure your console doesn't overheat. With the PS5 stocking just 667GB of storage for game installs, this can't come quick enough.
