Someone's Made An Incredible Skyrim Halloween Mod
As of today (October 25) there’s only six days to go until All Hallows’ Eve is upon us. Many games have their own thematically appropriate events, and now a user on the Skyrim subreddit has highlighted an incredible Halloween themed mod, that transforms the northern realm of Tamriel into a much spookier place.
Skyrim Halloween Mod: What Is It?
The Reddit user u/quamps took some screenshots and shared their findings on the Skyrim subreddit, showcasing the new orange tinted aurora in the sky, pumpkins littering the land, and the thick fog that sweeps across certain areas.
The mod in question is called Project Halloween and can be found on the Skyrim Special Edition Nexus. It’s a fitting installation for any players wanting to try The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim at this time of the year and features a tonne of content.
Skyrim Halloween Mod: What's Included In It?
It’s described by its author, ayrasci, as a mod that "adds decorations in towns/cities, new Halloween-themed weapons/armour/spells/items, new vendors, hidden treasures and a growing compatibility patch collection!"
The project began back in 2019, and according to ayrasci was born out of frustration that the Epic Halloween Overhaul mod by Tentain hadn’t been ported to the Special Edition of the game yet. They successfully ported the mod over and decided to begin adding more content, implementing other mods that suited the Halloween vibe into one big collection.
Once installed, it transforms the regular aesthetic experience of Skyrim massively. Much of the in-game music was replaced, with the new main menu theme being a cover of John Carpenter’s Halloween theme.
Every city in Skyrim is overhauled with Halloween decorations, new stores and pop-up shops are added to some major locations that feature custom armours, weapon, and items. The mod also adds 18 unique soul cairns around the map for players to seek out and acquire Halloween themed loot.
To top it off, when players install the mod, there is a large selection of extra mods that can be toggled on or off to the user’s liking. The Nexus page also features a bunch of recommended mods like Dracula’s Castle and a flora overhaul with compatibility patches, if the original version of Project Halloween isn’t enough to satiate you.
If you do boot up Skyrim again to try it this Halloween, be on the lookout for roaming mannequins and the headless horseman that haunts players still. The Skyrim Anniversary Edition is also set to release soon on November 11, and it seems like the majority of mods will need to be ported into the new version, including Project Halloween.
