As the Call of Duty: Vanguard competitive season nears its start, with the Amateur Challengers events kicking off in early December, the professional players are still awaiting an official ruleset from the developers, and have begun launching their own Gentleman's Agreement once again.

Without much guidance from the likes of Sledgehammer Games and Activision, the CDL players have been heavily criticising the league once again, comparing the half-baked efforts to the readiness of Halo Infinite, which has been widely praised.

Taking things into their own hands for the third season in a row, the pros have now launched yet another debate on the usage of Automatic Tac Sprint, and their ever-vocal Doug "Censor" Martin has begun to rally the troops behind allowing the feature to prevent injuries such as carpal tunnel and arthritis.

Why Are CoD Pros Banning Auto Tac Sprint (ATS)?

Auto Tac Sprint is a method of running faster in the Call of Duty franchise, after being added in Modern Warfare. The ATS allows for your character to inject a much faster sprint speed for a short amount of time, although when it is disabled, you can still activate the sprint speed by double-tapping your left analogue stick. With movement becoming increasingly important at the elite level, ATS has been banned for the last two seasons, creating much debate as to whether the constant smashing off the sticks will cause injury.

Since the Modern Warfare season, players have been forced to run their thumbs into the ground, with hand injuries becoming more frequent due to the wear and tear of the awkward analogue position. However, with ATS enabled, the camp of non-supporters believe that the movement mechanics will create a broken and unattractive game style that contradicts the core Call of Duty instincts.

Censor Calls for ATS To Return To Prevent Arthritis

Former FaZe Clan star, Censor, has now called for the feature to return, saying: "I’d rather not develop arthritis by the time my kid is learning how to walk."

The now-Challengers veteran took to Twitter to argue that the "majority of pro players [will] develop hand problems by their early 30s because their over gassed egos believe it’s better to smash their thumbstick over a mechanic based off the evolution of the game."

However, younger players, such as the Black Ops Cold War MVP Chris "Simp" Lehr, have argued that if you were to ban ATS because of the physical demands, then holding a controller in a claw position should also be banned, and that would see a lot of players see a negative impact on their game.

Censor continued to argue that the usage of controller-enhancing gadgets like back-paddles, grips, and tensed thumbsticks are all in play to help with the prevention of injury, but players contradict this addition by banning an in-game feature that would continue to benefit them.

Whilst the war broke out on Twitter, the most experienced player in the league took a jibe at Simp's tiny terror duo Tyler "aBeZy" Pharris, targeting him as one of the main voices behind banning ATS. Ian "Crimsix" Porter joked that "If my left thumb becomes incapacitated because of not being able to use ATS, can I sue Abezy?" before the reigning world champion heckled the "old man".

Despite the Challengers scene starting in a matter of days, the pros have yet to settle on an official ruleset after being left to do their own work by the developers. Whether ATS will be banned or not is yet to be seen, although, with hand injuries ending the careers of the likes of Tommy "ZooMaa" Paparatto, it's clear to see why the debate is so rife.
