The Call of Duty League viewership numbers are dwindling in the latter stages of the 2021 season, with many fanatics of the franchise opting to watch top calibre streamers on Warzone instead.

The likes of Nick "NICKMERCS" Kolscheff manages to pull in similar concurrent viewership numbers than the League's main stream, which has left many players and fans wondering where the die-hard competitive Call of Duty fanbase has disappeared to.

With a multitude of reasons for the dip, such as advertising and promotion, many of the league's elite players and personalities have now identified one blatantly obvious reason: Call of Duty's ranked system.

Now, ahead of the Call of Duty: Vanguard era, players are calling for Sledgehammer Games to create a great ranked playlist.

Players Beg For A Good Ranked Playlist In Call of Duty: Vanguard

Despite League Play being a step in the right direction in ranked, there still remains a huge disparity between aspiring players and the pros.

Minnesota Rokkr's Dillon "Attach" Price has now called for a better ranked system in Call of Duty: Vanguard, as a way of allowing pros to create content and work on their personal brands.

CDL casters Jack "Courage" Dunlop and Joe "MerK" DeLuca have also shared their opinions on a ranked playlist, targeting it as the number one reason that the bridge between casual/Warzone players and competitive Call of Duty players, and the severe dip in CDL viewership, is a solid ranked playlist.

What Makes A Good Call of Duty Ranked Playlist?

Most of the general discussion will stem around the ELO system that is involved, with many seeing the Black Ops 2 and WWII division-based system as the best way to keep players active and entertained.

However, neither system was 'perfect' and players have been suggesting ways that Sledgehammer could improve on their WWII model.

Florida Mutineers' Colt "Havoc" McLendon suggested that rewards would allow players to grind, such as titles and even weapon camos, alongside a possible map selection so players can vote for their favourite modes.

Attach also said, "I loved the WW2 version, Knowing exactly where you are ranked in the world kept me wanting to play more."

It appears that these changes would also spark content creators to dive into competitive CoD, such as Courage. The 100Thieves man said: "I can tell you. I’m sure if there was a FIRE ranking system that TimTheTatman, Nickmercs, and Cloakzy would be down to push for top ranked together when Warzone updates are slow."

For Sledgehammer, their foundations are there, all they need to do is summon their namesake and smash the door down that is currently slammed shut in the face of a casual Call of Duty player.
