Nintendo is taking flight once again, as The Legend of Zelda series is spreading its wings and soaring to Skyloft with its Skyward Sword HD remaster. It's been a decade since we first played the game on the Wii, and with pop culture changing so much in the past 10 years, Skyward Sword HD now includes a popular meme Easter egg.

Whether it's Homer in the Hedge, Distracted Boyfriend, Bernie Sanders, or Padme and Anakin, meme culture is everywhere right now. Even the world of video games isn't safe from memes, with The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD giving a clever nod to the iconic Woman Yelling at a Cat meme.

What is the Skyward Sword meme?

For those who don't know Woman Yelling at a Cat, it comes from an episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. In the 2011 episode, Taylor Armstrong is seen screaming at fellow housewife Camille Grammer, while Kyle Richards tries to calm her down. In 2019, someone spliced Armstrong and Richard together with a confused-looking cat (who was later identified as Smudge).

While we wait for Skyward Sword's imminent release, fans have noticed a replica of Woman Yelling at a Cat in the latest trailer. With the internet jumping on the trend, everyone has been making their best Zelda Yelling at a Cat meme. The whole idea took off when the official Nintendo of America Twitter account posted the shot of Zelda without a caption.

What are the best Skyward Sword memes?

Gaming fans took hold of the idea and ran with it. Featuring everything from Zelda shouting at Tingle to someone turning Smudge the cat into Groose, it's an idea that's taken off. Whether the move was intentional or not, it would be a bizarre twist of fate if developers actually inserted meme culture into Skyward Sword HD.

Then again, the Zelda games are known for their odd Easter eggs. Majora's Mask included a Mario Mask, while A Link to the Past has the legendary Chris Houlihan room. Talking of cats, there's a well-hidden Easter egg in Skyward Sword. Lurking in Skyloft is a hard-to-reach area that is a field full of flowers and cat-like Remlits.

To find this field of felines, use your clawshot near the Goddess Statue and frolic with these kitties.  With The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD out on July 16, happy hunting!
