Saddle up your horses and spread those dragon wings. We're heading back into the wide world of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim for another fantasy frolic. It's hard to believe it's been a decade since Bethesda first welcomed us to Dragonsreach, but with mods and glitches galore keeping the game alive, Skyrim ain't going anywhere.

By now, you probably consider yourself something of a max-level wizard. However, as we continue to prove, there's still a lot to uncover in Skyrim. If it's not using an Indiana Jones trick to complete a quest, it's adding your own VR bowling alley. Now, someone has uncovered a way to avoid fall damage as you plummet to your potential death.

How can you cheat fall damage in Skyrim?

Much like that deadly misstep in Fortnite when you swear at the screen and realise you've just tumbled into the abyss, fall damage in Skyrim is a frustrating mechanic. In a game that's so glitchy, it's easy to trip over an edge by misjudging your drop, only to have your adventure cut short. Posting on Reddit, u/Woebne shared a handy workaround.

In the video, they explained how attacking an NPC on the way down can stop your fall damage. It's not a foolproof hack, with the OP saying you need to trigger a kill animation for the anti-damage trick to work.

After killing a Bandit Thug and watching the kill animation, the player then climbed to the top of a wall and jumped out into the night to perform a Far Cry-inspired kill from above. It was a huge fall that would normally kill the Dragonborn, but instead, they lived to fight another day.

Fans were suitably impressed and soon flooded the comments with praise. "'Hey my name is Dragonborn..quicksaves...and welcome to jackass' jumps off building", said one, while another added, "That's some far cry death from above sh*t there". A third simply said, "Assassin's Creed: Skyrim".

It's not just a Skyrim perk though. Other Bethesda favourite Fallout 3 apparently has the same, as someone concluded, "You could do this with vats of FO3 and NV. Used to enjoy killing tenpenny then jumping off his tower and landing on some unsuspecting resident with a supersledge."

Are there more Skyrim fall hacks?

Fall damage isn't really a problem if you remember we recently covered a The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild-inspired mod that added a paraglider to Skyrim. It turns out, the kill cheat isn't the only way to avoid fall damage. We've all tried to climb one of Skyrim's mountainous regions by spamming the jump button to leap like a mountain goat, but it's a little too easy to fall to your death.

A few months ago, an equally crafty player claimed you can use Natch Jelly to avoid fall damage. Remembering that Natch Jelly paralyses players, making them as stiff as a board apparently stops them from being inflicted with fall damage. Well, the more you know.

With The Elder Scrolls 6 release date still a long way off, it remains to be seen whether Bethesda will patch out the various glitches and hacks that have made it stood the test of time. Personally, we don't see a seamless version of The Elder Scrolls 6 as much of a hit. In the meantime, try being your very own Ezio Auditore da Firenze.
