Skyrim Player Beats The Game Using Only The Fishing Rod
Bethesda has managed to "lure" players back to Skyrim for the 10-year Anniversary Edition, and it turns out, all it took was fishing to do it. The wide world of The Elder Scrolls has lain dormant since 2011, with Microsoft bosses already warning the mythical Elder Scrolls 6 is a long way off. It means we're yet again heading out into Tamriel as the Dragonborn.
Unlike the troubled GTA Trilogy, the first reviews are looking pretty good for the Skyrim: Anniversary Edition. With the game looking pretty tired by today's standards, a fresh coat of paint, some new questlines, and the addition of over 500 pieces of Creators Club content has done the trick. However, we all know what we came here for - and that's fishing.
How Did Someone Beat Skyrim With A Fishing Rod?
Posting on Reddit, u/TheFogFrog claims they bested Skyrim using just a fishing rod. The Anniversary Edition has only been out a matter of days, so it's impressive that they've whipped through the game in general - let alone with a fishing rod.
The post shows the Dragonborn's final fight with Alduin, proving that yes, it is possible to complete Skyrim with a fishing rod. Well, at least the main quest. The OP confirmed, "I hadn't played Skyrim since the last re-release and once I heard that you could wield the fishing rod, i couldn't help myself at all."
Other players were suitably impressed by this feat, with one joking, "So Alduin is actually a colossal flying trout? I had no idea..." Another added, "I see the dedication of the Skyrim community hasn’t faded even a little bit, good stuff my dude", while a third said, "This video killed me more than Todd Howard has killed my hopes for TES6. Thank you for this absolute masterpiece."
How Do You Fish In Skyrim?
For those of you who don't believe u/TheFogFrog managed to pull off this ludicrous display of ingenuity, they shared a YouTube video documenting exactly how it was done. Namely, most of us wouldn't have thought of using the fishing rod as a weapon - so good work for using your noodle.
To go fishing in Skyrim, simply complete the introductory quest in Helgen, then find a fishing spot. There should be rods lying around, so cast away. When the weather is a bit crappy outside, why not take up a spot of virtual fishing, and maybe see if you can complete Skyrim with just a rod?
If besting Alduin with rod in hand doesn't float your boat, you could simply head out on the water and kick back with a bit of normal fishing. There are 20 species of fish to catch in Skyrim, with fishing being an odd pull of the Anniversary Edition. There are plenty more fish in the Sea of Ghosts.
