Skyrim Laugh Track Mod Turns The Elder Scrolls Into A Sitcom
Skyrim is a funny game by itself, to be honest. Wide-open worlds such as Skyrim itself (especially in the hands of Bethesda) are bound to have some slightly mad bugs, and they’re often whimsical enough to get a pass from fans - like the RPG is a less intentional Goat Simulator.
We've seen plenty of weird and wonderful mods over the past decade of Skyrim, but now, one modder has pushed it further than ever, turning the fantasy epic into a sitcom. If you fancy Skyrim as the next version of Blackadder, Friends, or Seinfeld, we've got you covered.
Skyrim Modder Creates Laugh Track For The Game
As shared in the Skyrim subreddit, a mod has been discovered in Skyrim that adds a laugh track to the game. Cue chuckles from your studio audience at opportune moments.
The official description details exactly those moments when you’ll pull a giggle from the crowd - "This mod adds laughing audience sounds every time you break a lockpick, fail to create a useful potion, try to shoot from an uncharged magical staff and fail at performing a shout." An audience laughing at our misfortune might not be exactly what we need in-game, but hell, it’s funny.
The developer adds at the end of the description "Update! Now it also adds laughter every time you die." Perfect!
If you'd struggle to see the point of a laugh track mod, fans in the comments have thought of some genius new applications for the sitcom’s studio audience in Tamriel.
Skyrim Fans Come Up With New Ways To Use Sitcom Audio
Click to enlargeSome fans have replied to the post with their own ideas for where the mod could go next, and they’re very creative. A couple of replies have suggested that the crowd boo and hiss whenever Nazeem says anything (valid) and that they should boo the Dragonborn if they make the choice to kill Paarthunax.
Another said it should play when an NPC says "Guess I was just hearing things”, or “Just the wind” when they can’t find you when hidden.
Finally, someone suggested that it needs more to add to the sitcom atmosphere. “Not good enough", says RealJonathanBronco. "I need laugh track followed by Seinfeld slap bass". We once thought Skyrim was immaculate, but now being reminded that there’s no slap bass involved, it's made us realise otherwise.
Only recently, we've covered the lighter side of Skyrim with flying horses, magical fondue, and the ability to shout wings off a butterfly. The mod is a fun addition that might drive you mad eventually, but it’s a hilarious addition to the game. Now, where’s that real-life Skyrim sitcom, Bethesda?
