While some of us are already counting down to next Halloween, the spooky season is sadly done. Or so we thought. As players return to Tamriel for the Skyrim Anniversary Edition, a bizarre Skyrim glitch has added another Headless Horseman to this fantasy realm.

It's been a whopping 10 years since the Dragonborn first picked up their sword and headed out into the unknown to banish Alduin. Since then, we've slashed (and modded) our way through a decade of quests and glitches. We're no stranger to finding the Headless Horseman in Skyrim, but now there's another - well, sort of.

What Is The Headless Horseman In Skyrim?

The latest chapter in the sprawling Skyrim lineage gives us yet another port. The revamped Skyrim Anniversary Edition adds over 500 pieces of Creation Club content, as well as new quests relating to Morrowind and Oblivion, and (who could forget?) fishing. Thankfully, it's not a perfect experience, meaning there's a new headless enemy that's slipped through the cracks.

Posting on Reddit, u/Buk_hockey88 joked that this was a new enemy type added for the Anniversary Edition. After using a lockpick in Valtheim Towers and heading out onto the bridge - only to be faced by a headless enemy mindlessly rampaging toward them.

One fan wrote, "I would have jumped out of me socks right there when he came swoopin in without a head and all like it’s his business to be floatin around posin all headless and sh*t." Another added, "It's Headless Nick, you've heard of Nearly Headless Nick, this is his brother.," while a third joked, "It’s Ichabod. Ichabod Crane."

An angry player said, "10 year. 10 f*****g years.. STILL GLITCHY", but come on guys, it's Skyrim, and that's why we love it!

Is There Actually A Headless Horseman In Skyrim?

In reality, the above looks like it's one of those famous Skyrim glitches. Some think it's the legendary Headless Horseman spawned without his horse, but in reality, the bug probably rendered an enemy without its head. Of course, you can actually track down the "real" Headless Horseman in Skyrim - if you know where to look.

Only recently, we covered how some players didn't know the Headless Horseman is out there in Skyrim. Usually spawning between the hours of 10pm and 4am, the Headless Horseman is an odd NPC that isn't connected to any of the game's quests. He can be also be found during the day while roaming Hamvir's Rest. The Headless Horseman will block the entrance to the cemetery until the Dragonborn is out of sight.

Sadly, the Skyrim Anniversary Edition's many upgrades and improvements don't add an officially questline where we get to find out more about the Headless Horseman. Oh well, here's hoping he makes a return for the Xbox-exclusive The Elder Scrolls 6... whenever that comes out!
