Shroud 'Wishes Apex Legends Was A Bit More Like Fortnite'
Regarded as one of the most talented gamers ever, Michael "Shroud" Grzesiek is no stranger from a multitude of huge games. After leaving professional CounterStrike: Global Offensive, where he shot to fame during his time at Cloud9, Shroud delved into various titles including Apex Legends.
Excelling across Kings Canyon and Worlds Edge, Shroud often streams Apex Legends to his concurrent 50,000 viewers, alongside other battle royale games. As Apex has upped its game going into Season 6 and has many exciting features lined up, there's one area where Shroud feels like Respawn Entertainment could improve to make the gameplay easier on the eye. He told his stream that he wishes that Apex was more like its fiercest competitor, Fortnite, when it comes to the visuals.
Whilst waiting to jump into the Drop Ship as the soon-to-be nerfed Wraith, Shroud told his stream that "This is going to sound weird, but I wish the colours in this game – of the maps – were vibrant like Fortnite”.
When it comes to the visuals, Fortnite often is associated with its energetic and vigorous colour scheme, whereas Apex Legends favours a more rustic and post-apocalyptic approach. Shroud continued to say he wishes the maps were more "like, bright blue, bright green, bright orange. But, instead, it’s like this sand kind of beige that looks kind of gross, you know. Like this game, if it had all Fortnite colours, it would be so sick in terms of maps”.
Apex Legends recently introduced a more spirited colour scheme to the loading screens and banners around the map, optic for a vivid pink to tie in with the most recent legend, Loba. However, Shroud wishes the maps themself would scrap the sand and opt for an animated style.
Heading into Season 7, it has been speculated that Valk will bring splashes of Turquoise to the pallet, as he enters the battleground. There could also be a new map on the way, which may play straight into Shroud's hands.
