If you've been hard-stuck in Overwatch 2's Platinum - even if you've been tearing up the competition - being let down by out-of-their-depth teammates and facing top-tier players, you're not alone.

Overwatch 2 players have been on a rough grind as of late, with the MMR systems solidifying their placements within the competitive ranks - despite being of "better quality" and facing players in higher divisions.

However, this has now changed thanks to a recent Season 4 tweak that has resulted in players finally being placed in the rank they deserve. Better yet, some people are even jumping from Platinum to Grandmaster.

Overwatch 2 releases huge Ranked update

Heading into Season 4, the developers at Blizzard Entertainment changed their stance on how the MMR works in relation to your ranks.

"Competitive Play ranks are no longer reduced at the beginning of every season, and all previous effects of this system have been removed. Everyone’s skill tier and division have been adjusted to match the current estimate of your skill," Blizzard said in a recent post.

Contrary to other seasons, this is not a full ranked reset, but rather just an adjustment to better-place players to a rank they deserve.

Overwatch 2 players jump from Platinum to Grandmaster in the season 4 update

One of the most extreme cases has seen a player jump from Platinum to Grandmaster in Season 4.

Streamer "Guru" was solidified in Plat throughout Season 3, despite often coming up against top-100 players and pros. Now, as of Season 4, they've been placed into Grandmaster 1.

On the flip side, if you've recently been carried to a higher rank by top-calibre players, expect a nerf to your standings pretty soon.
