s1mple Hits Audacious Double No-Scope On Road To $1,000,000 Pro League Win
In a tale as old as time itself, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive's (CS:GO) top-two players in the world clashed heads in the ESL Pro League 14 Grand Finals, as Natus Vincere (Na'Vi) took on Team Vitality for the $1,000,000 championship.
Swedish sensation Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev and French phenomenon Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut had the stage as their playground, as they looked to get an upper hand in the battle to be the greatest player of the current generation.
In the s1mple versus ZywOo fight that will likely span for many months, possibly years, it was the sublime Swede who drew blood this time, after a six-hour-long duel was determined by the finest of margins.
Despite ZywOo's best efforts with an overall 1.23 K/D ratio over five maps, Na'Vi proved too strong in map five, taking the Mirage map 16-14 and subsequently toppling the series 3-2 to take home the ESL Pro League championship trophy and a sumptuous $175,000 prize winnings.
On the road to victory, Na'Vi faced stiff competition from the likes of Heroics, where flashes of brilliance from s1mple himself proved too hot to handle.
Just as Heroic looked to get a foothold in the decisive match of the semi-finals, which Na'Vi were beginning to run away with, s1mple took it upon himself to shut down any hopes of a momentum swing, by pulling off the most audacious double no-scope.
Having mantled up the ladders, s1pmle caught two opposing players having a tea party above the gap, and picked one off with a snapshot no-scope, before exiting the ladder, only to climb back up and mimic the act on the second player.
He continued to find the closing kill on Casper "CadiaN" MΓΈller, finishing off the round with certainty. With his AWP in hand, s1mple's confidence was at an all-time high, pushing them on to the Grand Finals in which they slogged past Vitality.
Na'Vi will now be eyeing success in the BLAST World Finals to cement themselves as the best team in the world.
