Rogue Goombas Force Super Nintendo World Ride To Close
Ah, the Goomba. The nigh-on defenceless adversary of our favourite plumber/golfer/go-karter/Koopa murderer has been a victim through and through. In all of its in-game appearances so far in the Mario series, the Goomba has had it tough.
Goombas deserve better, and for all they have done for gaming, it’s about time we put some respect on the Goomba’s name. Because they’re starting to get a little violent. It looks like they’re gearing up for some pretty maniacal revenge, as a stack of Goombas have endangered passers-by at the newly-opened Super Nintendo World.
Super Nintendo World Goomba Stack Falls On Ride Tracks
An accident has occurred at Super Nintendo World in Universal Studios Japan, as a Goomba tower has fallen from its platform - narrowly missing visitors at the theme park.
Asahi Shumbun Digital has reported that the Goomba Tower ride decoration fell a few metres from its platform and crashed into the Yoshi’s Adventure ride. Thankfully nobody was harmed, as the area where it fell wasn’t accessible to patrons. Still, it was something of a close call.
The collapse has forced some of the rides at the amusement park to temporarily due to safety concerns, but at the very least, nobody was immediately harmed by the toppling tower of Goombas.
Super Nintendo World Staff Seen Putting Goombas Back Up
In a video shared to Twitter, some of the park’s staff have been seen attempting to pick the stack of four Goombas back up and returning them to their rightful place - ideally, a little more securely this time.
It's all go at Super Nintendo World, with recent reports claiming a Donkey Kong expansion could be on the way soon. We know there are already parks planned for Universal in Hollywood and Orlando, while the OG in Japan is sure to extend beyond its relatively small Mario-themed attraction.
When it comes to the Goombas, there’s no telling what toppled the tower. Whether it be a strong wind or something coming loose, we’re glad that nobody has been hurt in the process. Someone remind the Goombas that it’s Mario they want, not park patrons.
