Four games are better than three - well, we're not sure if that's the case when it comes to the troubled GTA Trilogy. Rockstar Games' long-awaited GTA remaster of the classics GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas was supposed to be one of 2021's biggest releases, but instead, it flopped.

With Christmas just around the corner, Rockstar is trying to save its maligned port, and is giving away GTA V (among other games) as an incentive to put the GTA Trilogy under your tree this year.

How Can You Get GTA 5 For Free?

Santa has a sleigh full of gifts for gamers this year, with Rockstar's Holiday Bonus offer rewarding anyone who buys GTA Trilogy: The Definitive Edition on PC. As well as the GTA Trilogy currently coming with 20% off, you get your choice of free game to go with the bundle.

Despite a rocky launch, Rockstar promises that anyone who buys the GTA Trilogy by January 5 at 8:59 pm PST / 11:59 pm ET / January 6 at 4:59 am will be offered a free game. It's unclear whether those that already own the game will be able to claim the gift, so keep your eyes open.

The inclusion of 2013's GTA V is clearly the big hitter here, however, there are plenty of other options if playing Michael, Trevor, and Franklin's story isn't your thing. The following games are up for grabs:

  • GTA 5: Premium Edition
  • L.A. Noire
  • GTA 4: Complete Edition
  • Bully: Scholarship Edition
  • Max Payne 3

If none of the above appeal to you, you could always opt for a Great White Shark cash card ($GTA 1.25 million) for GTA Online or 55 gold bars in Red Dead Online

Does Rockstar Have More Festive Offers?

While this is enough of a festive surprise for many, Rockstar is also giving you a completely different gift if you stump up for the GTA Trilogy. To celebrate the return of the GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas to the Rockstar Launcher, anyone who buys the trilogy will be given all three games in their OG forms from all those years ago.

With the remastered trilogy being slammed for everything from graphics to glitches, a lot of us are choosing to play the games like they were back in the '00s. Despite all its faults, Rockstar and developer Grove Street Games are refusing to give up on the GTA Trilogy. Sticking a middle finger to critics, there's a roadmap of updates that will hopefully turn things around.

There are some obvious stipulations with Rockstar's Holiday Bonus offer. It's only valid once per Social Club account, can't be gifted, sold, transferred, or refunded. Still, we're told never to look a gift reindeer in the mouth. If you haven't for GTA V on PC, why not add it to the collection?
