Even though we're revving our engines in excitement for what comes next with Grand Theft Auto, Rockstar Games is still refusing to acknowledge the existence of GTA 6. It's been a whopping eight years since we last got behind the wheel of this automotive showstopper, however, GTA V continues to sit pretty as the most profitable entertainment product of all time.

While we're used to seeing the 2013 game as a regular of the charts, the upcoming release of the Expanded & Enhanced version is surely going to make it soar once more. As Rockstar continues to plough its efforts into previous games, it's keen to distance itself from even a mention of GTA 6.

Why has Rockstar blocked GTA 6?

In a particularly bizarre turn of events, fans have noted that the official Rockstar YouTube has blocked the phrase "GTA 6". Any mention of "GTA6" in the comments of a video will be automatically muted. When Twitter user @Not_StrangeMan shared the info, fans were equally confused at what's going on.

In all likelihood, Rockstar is onto the fact that hype for GTA 6 is in danger of overshadowing Expanded & Enhanced. Or, could those wicked marketing geniuses be muting any mention of GTA 6 simply so we talk about it (like this article) and drum up even more interest? We see you, Rockstar.

Apparently, "GTA VI" has survived the cull, but "GTA Six" will be muted. On Twitter, gamers shared their frustration. One wrote, "Damn, I really want to see how many comments are in their filter now", while another added, "WHERE'S GTA 5+1?!?!".

A third angry fan wrote, "Because they trying to milk GTA v for all they can before they even try to give us another game. GTA v has ran its course that s*** was on three systems give us a new one already GTA 6."

What do we know about GTA 6?

Some claim Rockstar muted GTA 6 phrases over a year ago, but we're not so sure. Either way, it's odd that the developer would mute anything relating to its next chapter. Even though we understand blocking homophobia and racism, GTA 6 doesn't make a lot of sense.

Maybe Rockstar was sick of you filling its feed with questions about the mythical game? If you want to drum up interest in GTA 6, you can still pester Rockstar on Twitch and Twitter because mentions aren't muted on there.

Even if Rockstar refuses to give GTA 6 the nod, barely a week goes by that we don't cover some sort of leaked map or rumour of a Vice City sequel. Only recently, we wrote about how Rockstar might've teased a '90s setting for GTA 6.  We're not buying that Rockstar isn't working on what's next, but with Expanded & Enhanced just around the corner, you'll have to wait a little longer.
