The first phase of Rocket Street's SAM Circuit Community Events has come to a close, with the final Prime Series giving us the sixteen teams to be facing off in the first of this split's two Grand Series events. Meanwhile, in Oceania, the second Winter Regional got started with the 32-team group stage over the weekend.

Here's everything that happened in last week's South American and Oceanic events.

Prime Series - Back to normal

Following True Neutral's failure to reach the grand final of back-to-back events last week, it seems only right that the final Prime Series saw the region's biggest rivalry back at it again. With PDHM Gaming and Chromax failing to reach day two to after falling to The Three Sins and Dracon Esports respectively, the stage was set for Ellevens and True Neutral to do battle for what seems like the infinitieth time this season.

After True Neutral battered their Brazillian rivals 4-1 in the winners' finals, Ellevens were given a tough series by The Three Sins. The Season 8 Grand Series champions held on until the very end as Ellevens ran away with the deciding seventh game to secure a rematch against their arch-rivals. Things started well for Enzo "tander" Toledo and co., as they neutralised their opponents' one-game advantage by taking the first game in overtime. However, just one more win would come their way (also in overtime) as True Neutral found their footing, taking the series 4-2. It wasn't enough to secure the #1 seed heading into the Grand Series but, by overtaking Chromax, the LATAM Championship champions secured second place on the Prime Series leaderboard.

The group stage draw for the first Grand Series also took place this week, with the groups looking as follows:

  • Group A: Dracon Esports, Ellevens Esports, Locusts, Revivi2
  • Group B: eRa Eternity, Legacy, The Three Sins, True Neutral
  • Group C: Avidity Esports, Carnage Gaming, Chromax, Rebel
  • Group D: Atypical, Noble esports, PDHM Gaming, Soberano

RLOC Winter Regional #2 - Business (almost) as Usual

The second Winter Regional in Oceania got started over the weekend, with the qualifier and first stage taking place on Saturday and Sunday respectively. Whilst the overwhelming majority of OCE's top sides cruised to the swiss bracket, one team had a disappointing run. A poor run concluding in two forfeit losses knocked Overt, currently sitting in eighth place on the overall leaderboard, out in day one. It was a dismal finish from the former No Dramas trio, not long after reaching the finals of November's RLO Masters.

That's it for this week's recap. With the second OCE Regional concluding, and the first Grand Series in full swing, the next week is set to be an exciting one for fans of the two smaller RLCS regions. As always, stay tuned to GGRecon for more RLCS X content.
