Another week without any Regional Event action gave us mostly as-expected results in The Grid, with many of the sixteen Grid sides finally finding some semblance of consistency. To see where each team stacks up, here are this week’s Power Rankings.

On the cusp:

  • Solary dip out of the top ten after a five-game loss to FC Barcelona
  • Magnifico aren’t in The Grid and were therefore unable to play this week
  • Libertas’ wins over Liquid and Solary made up a strong run, but they’ve yet to show much consistency

#10=: Triple Trouble (New) - Tadpole / Bluey / Calix

Following their Week 1 Grid victory, Triple Trouble have finally made it into the top ten, with another top-four finish. It’s been a strong Grid season for Tadpole’s side, as the former Rival Series trio have made their way to third in the standings. With tomorrow’s Grid run starting off against Top Blokes, it’s a great chance for the former Method roster to prove that they can consistently take down the top teams.

#10=: FC Barcelona (New) - Deevo / Ronaky / Itachi

FC Barcelona return to the rankings after falling out last week, thanks to their top-four run in The Grid. That run will be a huge boost to their confidence after two last-place runs, but only time will tell whether that form can continue heading into the second Regional.

#9: Team Liquid (+0) - kuxir97 / Speed / fruity

Oh, how different things could have been. Being on the losing end of a game five overtime reverse sweep at the hands of Vitality knocked Liquid out before they could reach the playoffs in what looked like a free group. Their earlier loss to Libertas certainly didn’t do them any favours either, but Liquid appear to be finding their groove at long last. With the crucial Regional stage one happening this weekend, Liquid need to put in a good showing, or they’ll start slipping further and further away from the major.

#8: Endpoint (-1) - Virtuoso / RelatingWave / Metsanauris

Endpoint’s Grid run came to an unfortunate end last week, as a win over Dignitas was immediately followed by an incredibly narrow loss to eventual semifinalists Triple Trouble. Their decline in the rankings comes from their earlier defeat at the hands of Guild, who leapfrog them and claim their spot from last week.

#7: Guild Esports (+1) - noly / ThO. / Scrub

Guild’s London bootcamp appears to be paying off hugely as the British side missed out on a semifinal spot, only by virtue of a nailbiting quadruple-overtime matchup against Triple Trouble. Wins over not just Endpoint, but also Week 2 winners Giants, capped off a fantastic group stage run as Guild recover from their surprising loss to Magnifico in the first Regional.

#6: Dignitas (+0) - ViolentPanda / Yukeo / Joreuz

The former dynasty had another Grid week to forget, taking just one game in matchups against Giants and Endpoint as they crashed out in last place one again. Just one series win across three weeks of The Grid is a disappointing record for the S9 European champions, and a crucial matchup tomorrow against Vitality could be the turning point in their season.

#5: Top Blokes (-1) - FlamE / Kassio / archie

Top Blokes had quite possibly the strongest 0-2 run we’ve seen so far in The Grid, losing game-five overtimes against both Oxygen Esports and Team Singularity as they failed to win a series for the second week in a row. Things have only gone down for the ex-Veloce side since finishing second in the first Regional, and going 0-5 in overtimes last week will certainly have been frustrating. However, another chance at an almost-identical group this week could be huge for FlamE’s side.

#4: Oxygen Esports (+1) - Ferra / Chausette45 / AztraL

Since the first Regional, Oxygen’s story has been the polar opposite of Top Blokes’. Two strong Grid performances puts them at fourth in the standings, only behind the three teams to have taken one of the titles. Quickly becoming one of Europe’s flashiest teams, the addition of AztraL to an already-mechanical roster has won the French side plenty of plaudits. Their first series against Singularity could be a chance to assert themselves as a class above the rest of the region.

#3: Vodafone Giants (+0) - Tox / Zamué / Stake

Third place does feel a little harsh for the Giants. After all, they reached the Grand Final once again, giving yet another thrilling matchup against Vitality. However, BDS’ win over Vitality earlier on (plus their Regional victory) means that the Spanish side must settle for third once again.

#2: Team BDS (+0) - MaRc_By_8. / M0nkey M00n / Extra

BDS hold onto second thanks to the aforementioned Vitality victory in the group stage. With the second Regional coming up, BDS will have to perform better if they want to keep their European crown and win back their place at the top of the rankings.

#1: Renault Vitality (+0) - Fairy Peak / Kaydop / Alpha54

Just when it looked like Vitality were unable to win that elusive Grand Final series - they go and do it. The French side, aside from their loss to BDS early in the day, were in fine form as they got revenge on the Giants to take home their first title of the season, and moved up to second place in the Grid rankings.

That’s it for this week, congratulations to Vitality for keeping their spot. We’ll be back for more Power Rankings next week, but for now, stay tuned to GGRecon for more RLCS X content.
