Resident Evil Village Sold Nearly Half Of All Copies On PS5
Since the last Resident Evil title Biohazard, fans have been desperate to get back to the grim, grotty, and gruesome world of the series, and it looks as though Village has done just that. The trudges through a dingy village in the shadow of an ancient castle as returning protagonist Ethan Winters has delighted players and dedicated fans of the series. And apparently, it’s especially pleased the players of one console in particular.
Resident Evil Village Sells Incredibly On PS5
The sales numbers for Resident Evil Village are immensely impressive, especially considering it only launched last Friday. The numbers have been reported on Twitter by the head of gamesindustry.biz, Christoper Dring.
As it turns out, Resident Evil Village has had the second-best video game launch of 2021 so far, only coming behind Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury's Switch port. And interestingly, 49% of all sales for the game were on PS5, making the game the third-biggest PS5 launch so far, behind only Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. 31% of remaining sales were on the PS4, and only 20% were on Xbox.
It’s dominated the UK boxed game charts, but the game has still taken a hit comparatively with the rest of the series in that respect. Sales of Village are 40% down when compared to the last title Biohazard, but then again, it’s still been able to dominate the boxed charts, so it’s a testament to how impressively the game has been received.
It’s still early days, but Village has had an incredible launch. It’s only going to appear better in the coming days as download data comes in, but it’s clear that Resident Evil fans are loving Village so far.
