Samsung Is Giving Away Resident Evil Village For Free
The father's story is now done, but that doesn't mean we're ready to give up on our monster-hunting ways with the Resident Evil series. As the sequel to 2017's lauded Resident Evil 7, this year's Resident Evil Village marks the midpoint of a proposed trilogy for the Winters family name.
By now, we're sure most of you have stepped out into this gothic nightmare (if you had the cojones). If you haven't, Samsung has a new deal where you can get your claws on Resident Evil Village for free. Just like any deal, there's are some terms and conditions, but if you're planning on shopping with Samsung, there's the added incentive of going face to fang with Lady Dimitrescu.
How can you get Resident Evil Village for free?
Despite its flaws, many have cited Resident Evil Village as one of the best in the franchise's 25-year history. Combining Resident Evil 4's rural backdrop with RE7'S first-person perspective and pants-wetting jump scares, it sometimes feels like you're playing a sequel to 2005's RE4.
The official Samsung site explains that those who buy an SSD will be rewarded with a free copy of Village. The deal applies to a number of SSD's, but the general consensus is that the 1TB Samsung 870 QVO from Scan is the best deal. Costing £71.99, it means you get an SSD AND Village all in one. Yes, £71.99 is more than the cost of the game on PC, but if you're out for an SSD anyway, it might be worth looking at this one.
Currently on Steam, you can purchase the Resident Evil Village & Resident Evil 7 Complete Bundle for £64.99. In this, there are hours of horrors to be had, with the base RE7 and its Season Pass, Village, the Trauma Pack, and access to RE:Verse in one gory and glorious package.
Is Resident Evil Village worth it?
While you could whip through Resident Evil Village in around 10-15 hours, there's much more to keep you occupied - meaning you get plenty of shotgun bang for your buck. To complete the game and 100% every Resident Evil Village trophy, you'll need to do five full run-throughs, so Ethan is going to lose A LOT of hands. After this, there's also the Mercenaries mode for an added challenge.
If all of the above was enough, what about a Village DLC? Capcom may have been criticised for a lacklustre E3 presentation, but that didn't stop a throwaway mention of a DLC stealing the limelight. Even if Mother Miranda wasn't ready to reveal what's going on just yet, players will be overjoyed to know the story will continue in the first (of hopefully many) DLCs. We just hope Ada Wong gets her own Village DLC.
If you haven't stumped up your coins and visited the Duke to buy Resident Evil Village yet, why not bundle your SSD needs with a free copy of Capcom's monster mash?
