Pour femme, pour zom - you can now buy Resident Evil perfume. If you'd ever wondered what the smell of fear, adrenaline, and rotting corpses would be like if it was bottled and sold to the masses, Capcom has done the work for you with Resident Evil perfume.

Proving that there are no bounds when it comes to the developer milking its beloved zombie shooter, the franchise's 25th anniversary celebrations are in full swing. If Dead by Daylight crossovers and Rainbow Six collaborations weren't enough, how about spritzing yourself with the scent of Leon S. Kennedy? We're guessing it would be fine bourbon and old leather.

What is the Resident Evil perfume?

While the Resident Evil name was once remembered for lacklustre spinoffs and the likes of the bloated Resident Evil 6, the fan-favourite frightener has enjoyed a renaissance thanks to 2017's Resident Evil 7 and Capcom's remakes of the early games. All of this came together in a bloody bow in 2021 with the unprecedented success of Resident Evil Village.

Sadly, the latest line of Resi scents don't capture the essence of Lady Dimitrescu. Instead, Capcom's Resident Evil perfume honours heroes Leon, Chris Redfield, and Jill Valentine. While Chris and Claire were the OGs from 1996's first game, Leon joined the fold as a main protagonist in 1998's Resident Evil 2. All three have become mainstays of the franchise, and while Claire has sat out the past few entries, a grizzled Chris was a major part of Village.

In terms of what each fragrance smells of, Capcom doesn't reveal whether they're generic male and female scents or if they're actually modelled on attributes of the characters. There's a cryptic explanation that fans should "select the scent according to the mood and scene of the day". Either way, the "Biohazard 25th Anniversary Mini Perfume Collection" is available now. Remembering that the series is called Biohazard in Japan, the line is only available over there.

How much is the Resident Evil perfume?

Each bottle of perfume is designed to reflect the department the hero is associated with. Chris' label is shaped like Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance (BSAA) emblem, Leon's looks like Raccoon City Police Department badge, and Jill's replicates the Special Tactics and Rescue Service (STARS) logo. Bottles are priced at ¥6380, which works out at about $60/£42.

The Resident Evil perfume will be available both online and in-store in Japan, but unless you're heading there on holiday, it's going to be hard to nab this anniversary tie-in.

This isn't the only bit of out-there Resi merch we've seen recently. Also, to celebrate the 25th anniversary, Glenfarclas Distillery released a special-edition Scotch whiskey to mark this milestone.

Much more than just hopes of the Village DLC will release this year, the rest of 2021 is looking great for gaming, booze, and perfume fans of the Umbrella Corporation.
