A Resident Evil fan has lovingly remade part of the game in the style of Castlevania, and it's beautiful. Even better, the game is free-to-play.

What Exactly Is The Resident Evil X Castlevania Crossover?

Residentvania is a mashup made by a fan called OcO. According to PC Gamer, the build took around two months. Currently, a full playthrough will take you around five minutes. It is beautifully made, with you acting as Ethan Winters and entering Castle Dimitrescu. And, of course, everyone's favourite massive vampire lady makes an appearance.

The full walkthrough is below, but if you'd rather experience it first-hand yourself - check out the link at the bottom of this article.

The person behind the build wrote: "The first thing I thought while playing 'Resident Evil: Village' was how much it reminded me of 'Castlevania', so I thought I'd make a mash up of the two. I chose the first level of the original 'Castlevania' for NES, mixed in with the Castle Dimitrescu section of 'RE: Village'."

What Else Do We Know About The Resident Evil X Castlevania Crossover?

Fans were loving the mashup, with one person commenting: "Wow the quality on this is insane! I'd totally buy a full game in this style (maybe with original characters just to be safe haha)". Another added: "That was a very enjoyable five minutes I just spent. You did a great job, and now I am curious to check out the other projects on your channel, at some point."

In terms of the controls themselves, the person behind the build has shared the following details:

Buttons

  • Keyboard/Xbox Gamepad
  • WASD/D-Pad - movement
  • Space/A - jump
  • K/X - Use Knife
  • L/Y - Shoot (only if a weapon is equipped)

Development Details

They added: "The development time was a total of 2 months. Every asset is custom-made, but the game itself is completely free and cannot be sold due to it being a fan game."

If you want to play the game, you can check it out here.
