Could we have another Cyberpunk 2077 situation on our hands? While God of War: Ragnarok has the potential to be one of the biggest PlayStation exclusives ever, there are worries that the much-hyped sequel to 2018's franchise reboot has been delayed (again).

Although optimistic players hoped we'd be revisiting Midgard before the end of the year, Ragnarok director Cory Barlog threw a spanner in the works and confirmed the sequel has been pushed to 2022. As Barlog posts a cryptic tweet, some are convinced he's about to feel the wrath of Kratos' fandom all over again.

Has God of War: Ragnarok been delayed again?

Posting on Twitter, Barlog shared a gif of a sighing Kratos from 2018's God of War. There's no context to the post, and given it was the start of the week, it could just be a case of the Mondays. Then again, the thread soon blew up with concerned gamers thinking another delay is about to be announced.

One disgruntled fan wrote, "Not even in 2022, get ready for the news", while another added, "I think that means you messed up something and have to do it again". A third questioned, "Not sure if just Cory going through work life, or a tease". Either way, Mr. Barlog seems to be the one with all the answers - even if he isn't giving them up just yet.

Is Cory Barlog God of War: Ragnarok tweet good news?

On the other side of the coin, others think it's good news. We're not sure on the correlation, but could the gif be a tease that a long-awaited Ragnarok trailer is imminent? Someone said, "He probably finished preparing the trailer", and another added, "Holy sh*t hyyyyyype".

It's about time we had some good news about Ragnarok (including an official title reveal). On the plus side, we guess Ragnarok will be coming sooner rather than later thanks to reports it will be a cross-gen sequel instead of a wholly next-gen release for the PS5.

Sadly, the success of God of War, tease of a sequel in-game, and official announcement at last year's showstopping PS5 showcase mean we've become impatient for Ragnarok. As the games themselves have foreshadowed, Ragnarok is coming. It's just a question of when that is!
