The main difference which comes with this new format compared to the formally used points system is the difference between first and second has been reduced to just three points, being half of what it used to be. The new system is more forgiving at the top, however, much more unrelenting at the bottom where teams placed 13th - 16th will now receive zero points, whereas they would have earned a single consolation point.
The Mobile World League Season zero, Eastern Division, concluded with Indonesian side Bigetron coming out on top with 522 points, taking home $155,000 in prize money, with Orange Rock coming in second with 508 points, and RRQ Athena coming third with 496 points.
Over in the Western Division, Futbolist came out victorious, scratching up 298 points in the finals to take home first place, with Loops coming in second, just nine points behind with 289. KoninaPower pipped Cloud9 to third place by 8 points, finishing on 282.
The pro leagues will restart later this month, going on until October, where they will be using the new points system whilst trying to compete for a spot in the next World League.
