The team behind the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake has assured fans that the game is still on the way. However, it appears we'll be waiting quite a while for it.

What Has The Development Team Said About Sands Of Time?

In a statement posted to Twitter, the Ubisoft team said: "We want to take a moment to reassure you that the development of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake is still underway, motivated and inspired by your feedback.

"We will update you on our progress in the future and want to thank all of you for your unwavering support and patience.”

Fans were quick to reply to the Tweet, assuring the team how much they love the game. One person wrote: "PoP is my favorite game of all time …if you take suggestions all the design, graphics and all the 3D models from the 2008 PoP Game will always be my favorites and I still play that game every time I got a chance …best game in all the franchise the art and animations are just (okay emoji)".

Others were slightly more critical, saying: "I mean, it’s good that they are taking the time to make it polished and run well, but do we really need an update to tell us that they don’t have an update?" Yeah, that's a fair point.

What Else Do We Know About The Sands Of Time Remake?

In terms of when we can expect to be playing the game, it's looking more like a 2022 to 2023 window. The global pandemic has shifted everything from God of War: Ragnarok to Horizon Forbidden West from their original release date.

The 2003 game was a much-needed reboot for the Prince of Persia series and has since been held as a jewel in the franchise's crown. With this in mind, all eyes are on what a new-gen remake could look like. However, if we've learnt anything over the last year or so, it's that we'd rather games can out a little later than being presented in a buggy/glitchy way. So take your (sands of) time!
