Pokemon Players Discover Bike Hack After 15 Years

With Pokemon entering a new era with the rapidly approaching Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl remaster, fans are more excited than ever to jump back into the Sinnoh region. The classic games have been at the top of fans’ lists of potential remakes and remasters, and finally, they’re on their way to the Nintendo Switch. 

Now is the perfect time for fans to head back into the original games for a refresher course in preparation for the games’ arrival. However, one fan has discovered a feature of Diamond and Pearl that many had previously missed.

What is the Pokemon Bike Trick In Diamond And Pearl?

After years of the game being buried in our cupboards, some players are still discovering little tricks in the game to help them get around the Sinnoh region. One fan has posted on a (now-deleted) Reddit thread, explaining that they discovered something interesting with the small blue structures built on the side of the region’s Pokemon Centers.

"I’ve played Pokemon for years, and I only now discovered that these aren’t just decorations, they’re bike racks that allow you to mount and dismount your bike…" says redditor u/AbbeDrewNear in the Pokemon subreddit. "Has anyone else been as blind as me?"

It’s actually a clever feature if you think about it - the easily accessible bike racks allow you to quickly mount and dismount the bike, freeing up your Key Items slot for any other item that you might need on the fly. Still, it seems like a lot of players didn’t even know this feature existed.

Be warned though, the quick bike hack will only work in certain areas. So far, players have confirmed it will work in the southwest corner of Jubilife City, outside the Pokemon Centre in Oreburgh city, and several places in Eterna City.

Luckily, we won’t have much longer to wait until we can be utterly mesmerised by bike racks in the Sinnoh region again. Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl come to Nintendo Switch on November 19, and we couldn’t be more excited for it.

It remains to be seen if bike racks work in the same day, but we imagine they will, so why not try out this handy hack? We reckon we’ll be playing through it just the same as we did back in 2006 - but with one differing detail - that we’ll be using our Key Items pocket for something else.
