The long-running Pokemon series in a brilliant sweet spot right now. The franchise is still reeling from the long-awaited release of Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, and with Pokemon Legends: Arceus on the horizon, it's a game that could yet reinvent the series entirely.

The Pokemon Company is in the midst of a new creative overhaul of everything we know about the iconic franchise. Fans are very much aware of this, with many already forgetting all about the brand-new entries in the franchise that came back in 2019. Now, one player has suggested that these games have been hiding something fascinating from the very start.

Pokemon Fans Thinks Sword & Shield Teases Gen 9

A YouTube video by Lockstin & Gnoggin has suggested that there are hints to the next generation of Pokemon buried in the mythical Pokemon that appear in every generation. Basically, they're their very own Professor Oak.

A full YouTube video explains their theory, suggesting that the mythical Pokemon from every generation alludes - in one way or another - to the aesthetics and architecture of the region the following generation takes place in.

For example, Gen 7's Magearna is a beast with a robotic and metallic design, which Lockstin & Gnoggin suggests foreshadowed the industrial design of many Galarian cities. It's a reasonable theory, and delving deeper, the full video finds an explanation for every mythical Pokemon - which hints that it could be an accurate suggestion.

What's Next For Pokemon Gen 9?

So, if this theory is to be trusted, it begs the question - what's coming in generation 9? The YouTuber uses the opportunity to speculate about what's coming next to the Pokemon franchise, and they reckon a potential Indian-inspired locale is on the cards.

Drawing inspiration from the vines on Zarude's arms, the Indian Bangles could be the point of reference. According to the channel - and they might not be that far off. They've made a good case for the rest of the mythical Pokemon, so they could be bang on the money. Here's to exploring a whole new region in the next game!
