If you're one of the lucky people in the world who has managed to get your hands on a PlayStation 5 console, you might not be aware of the struggle of those left behind. The PS5 has essentially turned into gold dust, and those trying their hands at finding a console half a year on are still having little to no luck, making Sony rethink their current design model to help keep up with the growing demand.

But it is now believed that, unlike prior speculation, a redesign of the elusive console will not result in a PS5 Slim design or even a Pro, but still will retain as much similarity to the existing PS5 console. After all, the revision is not to make the console shape any easier to cart around but to improve production so that the masses can finally get their hands on a piece of the gold dust.

Rumours about the upcoming redesign surfaced earlier this year, and according to Kantan Games analyst Dr. Serkan Toto (via VGC) the redesigned PS5 will include a “new semi-customized” 6nm CPU from AMD.

Sony Chief Financial Officer, Hiroki Totoki, admitted that the reason behind the lack of consoles was down to a shortage of semi-conductors within the core build. Adding fuel to the rumours that a new PS5 is on the way, T3 reported at the time that Totoki had said, "The shortage of semiconductors is one factor, but there are other factors that will impact on the production volume. So, at present, we’d like to aim at [surpassing] second year sales of 14.8 million, which was the second year of PS4".

It's important to note that without any confirmation, this is all a wide range of speculation and could change in the following weeks.

Have you managed to get your hands on a console yet?
