Many people are wondering what console has the best exclusives - the Xbox Series X or the PlayStation 5. With most stores still sold out of both consoles, gamers have the time to peel through the libraries of each system, determining which exclusive titles will make or break their console choice. Both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X have stellar lineups, giving gamers the ability to play the most high-end games on cutting-edge hardware.

While many are divided about which console runs games best, or what console has the best exclusives, many can agree that the competition is fierce during 2020's console war. As more people are able to get their hands on both the Xbox and the PlayStation 5, more will develop hard-lined opinions about which system has their favourite games.

Until then, we've come up with a list of our favourite exclusives on both platforms. With a brief summary of the game and a trailer for each exclusive release, perhaps deciding which console to pick this year will be a bit easier.

PlayStation 5 Top Three Picks

3. Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart

Revealed during the PS5 announcement in June of 2020, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart has been on many players' radars since. The game is slotted for release in mid-to-late 2021, which has many players hyped for the PlayStation 5.

In the game, you play as Ratchet and Clank, travelling across different worlds and realities to stop an evil emperor from destroying all dimensions. The play style is similar to the 2016 Ratchet and Clank release, with the exception of portals. This game allows you to shoot portals to warp across the map with, increasing your travel speed drastically. Other than this, not much about the game is known, however, that won't stop the hype surrounding it.

2. Marvel Spider-Man: Miles Morales

Since the release of Marvel's Into the Spiderverse animated motion picture, fans of the film have been dying to play a game about titular character Miles Morales. The PlayStation 5 makes that dream a reality - and then some.

The game advertises some of the fastest loading screens ever experienced on a console, with new maps, new villains, and a new story to kickstart the game's fresh start on the PS5.

It was announced on June 11, 2020 and was released on November 12, 2020 on the PlayStation 4 and a week later on the PlayStation 5.

1. God of War Ragnarök

With a release date that is yet to be announced comes one of the most sought-after PlayStation 5 titles - God of War Ragnarök.

The game is the ninth in the series of God of War games, an extremely popular series that has stuck with PlayStation for generations.

Few details are known about God of War Ragnarök, save for the fact that it is very loosely based on Norse mythology and features the main character Kratos and his son Atreus.

Despite a lack of knowledge about the game's specifics, fans are still excited for its release, many citing it as their reason to purchase a PlayStation 5 over the Xbox Series X.

Xbox Series X Top Three Picks

3. Unknown Fable game

Not much is known about this release, other than that it will be released on the Xbox Series X. Fans of fantasy games and the original Xbox series Fable will definitely enjoy this new release.

Many fans have been looking forward to a new Fable game for years, making this title highly sought-after. No release date has been specified, but fans are still using Fable as a reason to purchase the next-generation Xbox over the PlayStation 5.

2. Halo Infinite

A new Halo game will be music to gamers' ears this holiday season, with many tuning in to what the franchise  has to offer in its most recent next-generation instalment.

Many Halo fans were sceptical of the new release- until 343 Studios brought Joseph Staten back on board. Staten is a writer from the Bungie-era of Halo, which gives fans hope that the story will see massive improvements in its Xbox Series X release.

Not much is known about the game's release- except that it will be coming out near the end of 2021. Fans will be waiting anxiously until then, hoping that this new Halo title will bring back the spirit of the old franchise.

1. The Elder Scrolls VI

While not officially announced, many speculate that Xbox has the exclusive rights to Bethesda's Elder Scrolls series, after the purchase of ZeniMax Studios for $7.5 billion in late September.

An Xbox-exclusive Elder Scrolls release would be absolutely mind-blowing for both Elder Scrolls and Xbox fans. The Elder Scrolls series itself is one of the best-selling video game series of all time, making Elder Scrolls VI a game that many will keep their eyes on until release. No release date is known as of the writing of this article, but fans will keep posted until Bethesda releases some sort of update or announcement about the upcoming game.
