Players Can Take One Legendary Pokemon To Battle Of Legends
If you want to be the very best (like no one ever was), there's a brand new challenge in coming to Pokémon Sword and Shield that's sure to test even the best budding Ash Ketchum among us. Coming this month, the online competition is dubbed "Battle of Legends" and puts both Legendary and Mythical Pokemon in the limelight.
Play Pokemon made the announcement on Twitter and encouraged you to take part in "Battle of Legends". Anyone who throws their pocket monsters into the ring will earn 50 Battle Points. You're also limited to 15 battles a day when things kick off.
To take part in "Battle of Legends", launch your copy of the game, open the X menu, select VS, then Battle Stadium. Select Online Competitions and then search Official Competitions.
Importantly, this is the first time players will be allowed to bring one of the 22 Legendary or Mythical Pokemon along for the ride. Running from Thursday, October 15 until Sunday, October 18, participants have to sign up by 4:59 PM PT (00:59 AM UK) ready for a 5pm start. To compete, you'll need a team of five, have a battle-ready symbol, and one of the following on your squad:
- Mewtwo
- Mew
- Celebi
- Jirachi
- Reshiram
- Zekrom
- Kyurem
- Keldeo
- Cosmog
- Cosmoem
- Solgaleo
- Lunala
- Necrozma
- Magearna
- Marshadow
- Zeraora
- Meltan
- Melmetal
- Zacian
- Zamazenta
- Eternatus
- Zarude
It works as gamers send out two Pokemon each at the same and duke it out. It's all pretty standard stuff, so be warned, you can't have two of the same Pokemon in your party. Finally, every Pokemon you take with you needs to have been caught in the Galar Region.
In terms of who to use, one fan wrote, "Don't sleep on Magearna! immune to both of eternatus stabs, not weak to Zacian/Zamazenta stabs (and resists fairy) and hits all 3 Galar legendaries for at least neutral with 140bp max fleur cannon AND gets +1 spatk everytime a pokemon on the field faints".
There's a standard series six ruleset meaning teams can be formed by up to six Pokemon up to Level 100. However, when it comes to competitive gameplay, they'll all be capped at Level 50. When it comes to "Battle of Legends", it follows in the footsteps of last month's Players Cup II qualifier. Those who were victorious will return for the next round in November.
As for "Battle of Legends", pick your most powerful Pokemon carefully. All there's left to say is you'd better start polishing those Master Balls
