Player Discovers Aliens Inside Red Dead Redemption 2
It looks like it's not just Fortnite that's been invaded by little green men looking to phone home. Now, one eagle-eyed Red Dead player has looked to the skies and thinks they've discovered aliens inside Red Dead Redemption 2.
Despite Rockstar Games' Wild West shoot-em-up being nearly three years old, that hasn't stopped fans from continuing to journey around the wild plains and discover a goldmine of Easter eggs you might've missed the first time around.
Alongside a long-awaited way to save Lenny with a Superman homage and a possible Back to the Future nod in Red Dead Online, has Rockstar snuck in another sci-fi favourite with a parody of E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial?
Where are aliens in Red Dead Redemption 2?
With Red Dead Redemption being such a massive and open-world experience, it makes sense that we've missed a few things. As one of the biggest games out there, the 2018 game even added the entirety of the OG Red Dead map from 2010 to its sprawling backdrop. Even all these years later, we're still finding those signatures Rockstar Easter eggs.
Posting on Reddit, u/Radiant-Head-793 showed the baffling discovery of what looks like alien markings. On the side of the rock, there is a stereotypical drawing of an X-Files-inspired alien. We're not sure why it's appeared in Red Dead Redemption 2 or whether there are more markings out there as a secret quest, but we're suitably spooked.
Other redditors were suitably impressed with the find. One wrote, "It's actually telling you that the aliens only come out at night time (see the moon). There's a cabin up in the grizzlies that if you go into at midnight a UFO will fly over and bathe the area in an eerie green light until daylight." Another simply added, "Cowboys vs. aliens".
What do aliens in Red Dead Redemption 2 mean?
As mentioned above, there's the chance to catch a glimpse of a UFO in Red Dead Redemption 2. If you head to Emerald Ranch and go on a mission up Mount Shahn, you can then glimpse a UFO if you hang around the ranch at midnight. The OP speculates that the fact the latest alien site is surrounded by skulls on poles means it could be part of an alien-worshipping cult.
Elsewhere, you might also remember the alien shootout in Grand Theft Auto V that was part of the massive Mount Chiliad Mystery. Rockstar seemingly has a thing for alien encounters. It will be interesting to see whether the ongoing Red Dead Online updates or the mythical Grand Theft Auto 6 will add more saucer-loving beings. And just when you thought ghost horses were the scariest thing Red Dead had to offer.
