Rome And New York Revealed As New Map Location For Overwatch 2

Blizzard Entertainment has announced two new map locations for Overwatch 2 in Rome and New York, with the latter appearing to be an Assault map. The shown footage looks gorgeous, taking direct inspiration from the most iconic places in the respective cities and adapting it to the future-earth universe.
During the Overwatch panel, the developers talked about the creative process of coming up with new maps and how they looked through thousands of images recreating real locations in the Overwatch engine and adapting them to what they think a future version of the city would look like. During Blizzcon 2019, Blizzard Entertainment had announced Overwatch 2, an unorthodox sequel to its highly successful First-Person Shooter (FPS) Overwatch. Instead of a completely new gaming experience, the company had opted to instead add a Player versus Environment (PvE) version to the game, in which players in groups of four set out to defeat Non-Player Characters (NPC) instead of the Player versus Player (PvP) action that Overwatch fans were previously used to. During their adventure, players will receive upgrades to their abilities, providing earned scaling to their gameplay experience. While the game had initially been expected by fans to launch at some point in 2021, during an earnings call at the beginning of the year, Activision Blizzard had stated that the game was unlikely to launch this year.
